PEKALINE®

PATENTED DEPIGMENTING ACTIVE

With Doctor Robert Ballotti and Professor Jean-Paul Ortonne, both hospital dermatologists and researchers at a large French institute, CEBELIA, an expert in patented treatments for aesthetic medicine, participated in very innovative work to patent a new regulator melanogenesis and fight against skin hyperpigmentation.

Normal skin pigmentation is mainly due to melanin. Melanocytes are the cells of the epidermis responsible for the synthesis of melanin through the phenomenon of melanogenesis, and provide a protective role against UV rays. Under the effect of UV rays, in skin in good working order, hormones and enzymes (&MSH, PKA, tyrosinase, etc.) stimulate the production of melanin.

This production of pigments is retained in bags, the melanosomes, then sent to the upper layers of the epidermis. This is the tanning phenomenon which is normally uniform. Skin hyperpigmentation can be due either to the abnormal presence in the skin of a pigment of endogenous or exogenous origin (medications, etc.) or to an accumulation or a distribution disorder of melanin (exposure to the sun, hormonal disorders, etc.). ).

Discover our solution, a patented depigmenting active ingredient that reduces the level of melanin within your cells.
In order to act on the overall process of melanogenesis, we have selected a patented active ingredient, Pekaline, which acts on two levels:

  1. A protein kinase A (PKA) inhibitor, it blocks transcription of the tyrosinase gene and therefore melanin synthesis.
  2. It modifies the intramelanosomal pH which plays a crucial role in the control of melanogenesis. The pH inside the melanosomes becomes acidic (pH < 7) which inhibits melanogenesis.

It causes a blockage of melanin synthesis inside cells by inhibition of protein kinase (PKA) and pigment maturation (acidic pH).

The results are proven: Pekaline reduces the level of melanin in cells by 40% on so-called “healthy” cells and goes so far as to divide this level by 5 when they are activated by a stimulator of the tyrosinase enzyme. Pekaline also reduces existing pigmentation by approximately 50%.

This patented active ingredient is at the heart of the formulation of our Reinforced Depigmentant, a formula which combines Vitamin C, Vitamin PP and Glycolic Acid for their anti-dark spots synergy. It also makes up our Eye Brightener treating hyperpigmentation around the eyes causing dark circles.

Our face creams use Pekaline to fight against pigment spots, whether they are already present or forming. Thus, our depigmenting face creams allow you to see the first results after 2 months, as part of daily use of this solution.

Depigmenting treatment: What is it for?

A depigmenting treatment for facial skin is designed to help reduce the appearance of age spots and even out skin tone. These age spots can be caused by excessive sun exposure, aging, hormonal imbalances or other factors. The role of a depigmenting treatment is to reduce excess melanin, which is the pigment responsible for skin color, in areas where it is present in excess. Active ingredients used in these treatments may include lightening agents such as glycolic acid, salicylic acid or Pekaline. These ingredients work by blocking or inhibiting the production of melanin, which can help reduce the appearance of age spots and even out skin tone. Thus, depigmenting treatments can be used to treat pigmentation problems such as brown spots, age spots, sun spots and melasma.
